OUR STORY
There’s no sugarcoating that we are a bunch of super geeky AI and automation nerds. We have been developing cutting-edge artificial intelligence systems for 25 years, since long before this current fashion wave. From advanced remote sensors to generative AI and Robotic Process Automation, if you can think of it, our teams have fielded it. We are based 100% in the USA and never offshore.
As you might imagine, this line of work has forced us to spend our share of time huddled in proposal war rooms over winter holidays responding to RFPs. We know your pain!
With the arrival of ChatGPT, every capture manager, writer, and SME we know has started using gen-AI to up their proposal game, whether they were allowed to or not. Results have been mixed, ranging from inspiration that cures writer’s block to usable tidbits of text. Some developed the skill to write prompts and precisely control the generated prose. However, this is no way to live. Generated text is so obviously generated, nobody is fooling anyone if they use more than little of it. Prompting might be an effective way to control generated narratives, but the process is iterative, time consuming, and often frustrating. Then there’s the issue of compliance. Chat bots are the wrong tool for the job, as they have no idea what a requirement or an instruction is. As for compelling, well…chat bots don’t know how to sell. Maybe with some uber clever prompting, you can eventually coax a weaselly sales pitch out of one, but they hardly make the best-case argument for why to select your bid over your competition’s.
…FAST FORWARD…
Believing this must have been solved already, we looked at the AI tools in the RFP Response Management (RRM) category. We were not impressed. Most were thin wrappers around chat bots that provide a user interface for prompting but do none of the heavy lifting needed to develop compliant and compelling volume narratives. Disappointed by the entire category, we thought, “what would it be like if a real AI company built one of these?” So, that’s what we did.
